Free Summer Community Course Series
TSBC offers access to a community of biblical scholarship so that students can fulfill their ministries—every student! For several years, TSBC has offered the Free Summer Community Course Series as a way to broaden the access people have to our community and to the study of God’s word.
The 2026 Free Summer Community Course Series offers access to two free courses in two different locations.
Philemon: Practical Christology That Transforms for Mission
Course Description:
Philemon: Practical Christology That Transforms for Mission is a verse by verse exegetical study of Paul’s letter to Philemon. The course will offer a thorough introduction to the letter covering the date, authorship, place of writing, destination, canonicity, occasion, purpose, and an exegetical outline. Week one will cover this introduction and the greeting in verses 1–3. In week two, we will study Paul’s prayer to God for Philemon in verses 4–7, where Paul’s practical Christology that transforms for mission is introduced. Weeks 3 (vv. 8–16) and 4 (vv. 17–25) will work out Paul’s practical Christology through his appeal to Philemon regarding Onesimus. Join us to discover that Christology is not a dormant doctrine but a transforming truth that leads to gospel-shaped work.

Rex J. Howe, TSBC President
After eighteen years in pastoral ministry, Rex began serving as the sixth President of Tri-State Bible College (TSBC) in 2020. He completed his B.A. in Bible/Theology at TSBC, his ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary, and is currently a postgraduate research student at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. Rex recently contributed a chapter in the new book The God of Small Places published by Wipf & Stock and edited by Glenn Daman and Jeffrey Clark. Rex and his family are active members at Wheelersburg Baptist Church in children’s and outreach ministries.
